I’ve been a professional metalsmith my whole adult life, and I’ve been baking bread for almost as long.  To me, nothing smells better than bread when it’s baking, nothing tastes better than bread fresh out of the oven, and very few things are more rewarding than sharing my bread with friends and family.  I understand why bread represents hospitality in so many cultures and traditions. 

I admit to being a bit obsessive about baguettes. Baking delicious baguettes used to be tricky because they need steam to develop a perfect crust, but I’ve never owned a steam-injection oven so my results were never consistent.  Finally, after years of experimenting in my kitchen and my metal shop, my customers tell me I’ve cracked the code with my stainless steel Baguette Baking Box.  It’s fun and easy to use, even for people who’ve never baked bread before. 

The Baguette Baking Box captures steam produced from the water in my Foolproof Baguette recipe, as well as from melting ice cubes.  You preheat the box, you put your bread dough inside the box together with a couple of ice cubes, you put the lid on, and you begin baking.  As steam forms and circulates inside the box, the box simulates the effect of a steam-injection oven.  Part way through the baking process, you remove the lid and let your baguettes brown to crispy perfection.  The result is an exquisite crust and a moist, chewy, delicious interior.  And because my recipe requires no kneading, the total hands-on preparation time  is just minutes.

We carefully craft and hand-finish every Baguette Baking Box in my shop in the Hudson Valley, using strong, premium-grade stainless steel.  The stainless steel we use, and all of our other materials, are produced in the USA. 

The Baguette Baking Box comes with a baguette tray that makes two 16-inch loaves, and it fits in a standard-sized oven (you need an interior width of at least 20 inches).
