FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions
The recipe calls for unbleached bread flour. Can I substitute all-purpose flour?

You can substitute all-purpose flour to bake baguettes in the Baguette Baking Box.

However, in our experience, there will be a difference in the taste and the texture.

We want your baguettes to be irresistibly delicious, so we strongly recommend

using a high-quality bread flour such as King Arthur or Red Mill.

When I make the Foolproof Baguette recipe, can I mix the dry yeast with the flour and salt and then add the water?

Yes, you can, but stir your dry ingredients very well.  We add the yeast to the

water to help ensure that it is more evenly dispersed throughout the dough.

I let my dough rise for 10 hours overnight, and now I don’t have time to bake it. What can I do to keep it fresh until I can bake it?

No problem!  You can keep it covered in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

What is the best way to keep my bread fresh?

We recommend freezing your bread if you won’t be eating it within about 12

hours.  Wrap it tightly in foil before putting it in the freezer for up to 2 months.

When you’re ready to eat it, you don’t need to defrost it – just remove the foil,

put it in the oven, set the oven to 350°F, and heat for about 15 minutes.  See our

other Baguette Baking Hints & Tips here.

I have a small oven and I'm not sure the Baguette Baking Box will fit. What are the dimensions?

The Baguette Baking Box is just under 20 inches long and 9.5 inches wide.
