USE AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS

READ CAREFULLY BEFORE USING YOUR BAGUETTE BAKING BOX!

Baking:

1) When preheating the Baguette Baking Box and while baking, always make sure the flat plate with the center channel is inside the box. This plate will prevent cold water from the melting ice from reaching the bottom of the box, and minimize the likelihood of warping.

2) Be Safe!  Once you’ve heated the Baguette Baking Box, both the oven and the box will be very hot!  We recommend using oven mitts rather than potholders when putting your Baguette Baking Box in the oven and removing it, or when removing the lid during the baking process.  Why?  In standard ovens, there isn’t much clearance between the box and the sides or top of the oven, and oven mitts will protect your whole hand against accidental burns.  For added safety, rather than reaching inside your oven to insert or remove the hot box, or to remove the lid, simply pull your oven rack out, lift the box, and push the oven rack back into the oven.

3) Do not place a hot Baguette Baking Box or a hot baguette tray directly on any heat-sensitive surface.

Cleaning:

1) Because our baguettes are baked on parchment paper, neither your Baguette Baking Box nor your baguette tray should require frequent cleaning when used as directed.  Should you wish to wash your box, wait until it cools to room temperature before doing so.  NEVER pour cold water on a hot box or lid, as stainless steel can warp.

2) To avoid scratching the stainless steel, DO NOT use abrasive cleansers, steel wool, abrasive sponges or  chloride-based cleansers, which can degrade stainless steel.  DO NOT use stainless steel cleaner or polish, which can leave a film on the surface of the box that will discolor upon heating.

3) Some discoloration upon repeated use is normal, and has no effect on function or durability.  To remove minor discoloration, you can apply a paste of vinegar and baking soda and let that sit for 10-15 minutes.  For faster results, or to remove more significant discoloration, sprinkle a small amount of Bar Keeper’s Friend on the surface of the box or lid, use a damp sponge to make a thin lather, let the lather sit for approximately 1 minute, rinse thoroughly with water, and dry.  See photos. Do not leave lather on the logo for more than 1 minute.  (Bar Keeper's Friend is available at many supermarkets and at Bed, Bath & Beyond).
4) The Baguette Baking Box can be washed in a dishwasher. To avoid water streaks and stains, dry the box thoroughly. The baguette baking tray can also be washed in a dishwasher, although some dishwasher soaps may discolor aluminum.  Discoloration does not affect usage.
